Bea didn't learn how her father died until after she turned thirteen. To honor her father, she took the stage name Bea and in 2017 wrote an article about suicides in the family she was raised by for The Guardian. Bea was raised with her sister Sinead with Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary teacher, jockey trainer and a former professional racer. Their family was enthralled by races as well as horses. Bea was a trainer for the Irish National Stud in her early teens. But she was aware that it wasn't what she wanted to do for a living and that she was more interested in to perform.
